Flavor Profile & Origin
Mìxiāng Guìfēi Chá (Honey Fragrance Guifei Tea) offers a flavor profile reminiscent of the legendary Dōngfāng Měirén Chá (Oriental Beauty Tea), carrying an intoxicating, luscious lychee and longan flower honey aroma. Compared to the gentle elegance of Oriental Beauty, high-mountain Guifei is more opulent and majestic. With a distinct lychee and flower honey fragrance in the tea soup, this tea was named after the Imperial Concubine Yang Guifei, who was legendary for her love of lychees.
Harvested in Taiwan's high-altitude Lishan (梨山) region, it is crafted with heavy oxidation and light roasting, allowing it to release a clean, sweet floral and fruity bouquet with absolutely zero artificial additives. The mouthfeel is rich and full-bodied, with lingering honey yun (charm) filling the palate into a long, resonant finish.
The Leafhopper Encounter
Often called "the sweet kiss of summer," authentic Honey Fragrance Guifei relies on the activity of the Xiǎolǜyèchán (Small Green Leafhopper).
To attract these tiny visitors, the tea garden must maintain a purely ecological, pesticide-free environment. When the leafhoppers nibble the tender young leaves, the tea plant produces chemical defense compounds. This natural reaction, combined with skilled enzymatic oxidation during processing, yields the signature muscatel and honey aromatics inherent to the tea.
