Baihuatan is located in the Yao Autonomous Township of Mengla County and is one of the benchmark producing areas of the Yiwu wild aroma profile. Harvested from a micro-terroir near the Tongqing River with an annual yield of only a few hundred kilograms, it sits at the confluence of three rivers—Tongqing River, Bulong River, and Jinchang River—where a natural deep pool forms, preserving an untouched virgin rainforest ecosystem. With wild mountain flowers in bloom across all four seasons, it earned the name "Baihuatan" (Hundred Flowers Pool). The ancient tea trees drive their roots deep into the rocky strata, absorbing subterranean minerals that endow the tea with a powerful, substantial, and saturated inner body.
The dry tea of Baihuatan is highly recognizable with three distinct traits: straight, rigid, and substantial leaf cords, resulting from an exceptionally high pectin content. Dark green with an oily black sheen, it releases an intense aroma of wild mountain flowers immediately upon dry sniffing, layered with ripe fruit sweetness and fresh botanical air.
The initial brew yields a clear, vibrant yellow-green liquor that gradually shifts into a rich beeswax hue. The tea soup is viscous and gliding like oil, with a delicate tea mist (cha yun) rising under the light. From the very first sip, the mouth is enveloped in explosive mountain floral notes (reminiscent of wild orchids and wild ginger flowers) interwoven with the sweetness of wild honey, showcasing the deep, full-bodied wild spirit of the pristine rainforest. Extremely sweet, exceptionally mellow, and soothing on the palate.
