Dayi 8592 Ripe Puer Tea Cake (201 Batch)

The Dayi 8592 ripe cake is a celebrated tea known for its sweet fragrance, standing as one of Dayi's "Classic Old Five Types." The original 8592 recipe was successfully developed in 1985, utilizing materials that are generally cūlǎo (coarse and old leaves) compared to the 7572 recipe. This results in a taste profile that is notably more chúnhé (mellow and smooth) and tiánshuǎng (sweet and refreshing) than the 7572.

In the early 1990s, the 8592 was exclusively supplied to the Hong Kong Nantian Trading Company. To distinguish it, and at Nantian Company's request, a purple "天" (Tian, meaning Heaven or Sky) character seal was stamped on its cotton paper wrapper. This led to the renowned "Tian" character cake, or "Zi Tian" (Purple Sky) cake, which is this very 8592.

This 201 batch of Dayi 8592 Ripe Puer Tea Cake continues the classic recipe, primarily using coarse and robust stems and leaves. When carefully tasted, the tea liquor is a deep, rich red and remarkably clear. The mouthfeel is characteristically chúnhé (mellow and smooth) and tiánshuǎng (sweet and refreshing). An inviting chénxiāng (aged aroma) intertwines with a distinct mùxiāng (woody aroma), gently wafting from the gàiwǎn with each opening. Its presence is discernible yet elegantly understated, never ostentatious or abrupt, perfectly embodying the classic Měnghǎi wèi (Menghai character/flavor).
