2009 Guanyong Zihao Mansa Big Tree Huangpian Raw Puerh Brick
This raw tea brick is pressed from huangpian (yellow leaves) harvested during the big tree spring tea season. It originates from the Mansa Tea Mountain, a pure, natural, and original ecological forest within the Yiwu tea region.
The appearance of these huangpian bricks is rugged, yet the inner quality is gentle. They are characterized by being "sweet, mellow, and infusion-enduring, with a taste that is neither bitter nor astringent." The entry is sweet and fragrant, the soup feel is silky and soft, and the tea liquor has a mild flavor with good performance in both huigan (returning sweetness) and shengjin (saliva production).
Detailed Analysis of "Big Tree Huangpian":
- Definition and Origin: Huangpian refers to "yellow flake-like tea leaves." During the processing of maocha (rough tea), leaves that are old, thick, and large in shape cannot be formed into strips and are screened out.
- Significance of "Big Tree": Compared to terrace tea (small, densely planted tea trees), big tree tea has older age, deeper roots, a superior ecological environment, and a richer tea substance.
- Appearance: Usually yellow-green, brown, or golden in color. The leaves are large and thick, often called "Golden Leaves."
-
Taste Characteristics:
- Low Caffeine and Bitterness: Because the leaves are mature, bitter and astringent components are low. The tea nature is mild and less likely to affect sleep.
- Sweet Mellow Huigan: The tea soup is silky and sweet, with a slow but lasting huigan (returning sweetness) and a full-bodied flavor.
- Rich Layers: While not as high-toned in aroma as young buds, the taste is more mellow and long-lasting.
-
Usage and Brewing:
- Direct Brewing: Suitable for beginners who dislike bitterness or those seeking a mild tea.
- Boiling: Because old huangpian is coarse and old, it is very suitable for boiling in a kettle, which fully releases the tea flavor and pectin, making the aroma even thicker.
- Aging: Old huangpian is extremely durable for storage. After aging, the chenxiang (aged aroma) becomes stronger and the taste becomes even more mellow.
- Aliases: Old Yellow Leaves, Golden Leaves, Big Tree Old Huangpian.
