TSH says:

2006 Zhongcha 8081 "Qingzang" Jincha (Six-Sided Buddha)

A well-known tea among connoisseurs with an excellent reputation. This tea is pressed from high-quality material sourced from the Banzhang and Bulang mountain areas. It comes packaged in a hexagonal colored box, with one "mushroom" (the shape of the tea) per box. The six sides of the box are printed with six different Buddha images, earning it the nickname "Six-Sided Buddha."

After many years of natural aging, the signature characteristics of its blend remain prominent: the baqi (domineering character) of Banzhang and the powerful intensity of Bulang mountain tea. This is a very durable tea that can be steeped many times.

Tasting Profile & Characteristics:

  • Appearance: The tea is tightly compressed into a perfect mushroom shape, with clearly distinct leaf strips.
  • Aroma: It has a typical Banzhang fragrance, with a pleasant and well-integrated pine-smoke aroma.
  • Liquor: The liquor is a bright and translucent orange-yellow.
  • Taste & Mouthfeel: The initial taste is powerful and impactful. The flavor is pure, thick, and strong. Any initial bitterness quickly transforms into a pleasant huigan (returning sweetness) and stimulates shengjin (saliva production). The overall profile is fragrant, smooth, and sweet.
