Tasting Notes

Brewing Parameters:

  • Vessel: White Porcelain Gaiwan (120cc)
  • Leaf Amount: 7.5g
  • Water: Commercial bottled mineral water

Rinse:
Upon the first rinse, the aroma clinging to the cup is distinct. The wet leaves reveal an evident Chenyun (aged rhyme). There is a fruit and honey fragrance carrying a faint breath of plum—classic characteristics of high-quality Taiwan Dry Storage.

Early Steeps (1-3):
The soup density is appropriate; the entrance is soft and smooth with good thickness. The Huigan (returning sweetness) unfolds slowly. As steeping continues, the tea flavor strengthens but retains its gentle character. The Chenyun (aged rhyme) and plum notes weave together, and a honey sweetness gradually emerges. The mouthfeel is very comfortable.

Middle Steeps (4-6):
Extending the steeping time appropriately significantly lifts the fullness of the soup. Although pushed harder, the balance remains intact. The texture stays thick and smooth, with moderate bitterness and astringency that transforms quickly into sweetness. The honey sweetness and Chenyun (aged rhyme) are remarkable, while a faintly emerging nutty aroma adds richness to the layers.

Late Steeps (7-10):
While the tea flavor gradually fades, the base notes of sweetness and softness, along with the honey rhyme, continue to release. A slight "watery" taste only appears by the 8th steep, but the palatability remains high, inviting you to continue drinking.

Comprehensive Review:
A 19-year-old mid-aged raw tea with an overall style that is warm and peaceful. Appropriately extending the steeping time or increasing the leaf amount can bring out better coordination, layering, and fullness.

The transformed plum rhyme, honey aroma, and Chenyun (aged rhyme) complement each other beautifully. The tea's power is moderate, and its "explosiveness" is slightly introverted (restrained), yet the lasting honey sweetness and harmonious mixed aromas perfectly showcase the charm of aged Puer tea.
